2013 Scholarship Recipients

The goal of the HCCNC Scholarship Program is to support student leaders as role models for the Hawai`i community. The Scholarship Program is aimed at strengthening the pipeline of Bay Area college-bound students and ensuring retention so that more students obtain their degrees.  We seek to support qualified kama`aina, and assist them in making the transition from high school to college, and from Hawai`i to the mainland.

This year we are pleased to support two outstanding students!

Congratulations to Austin Dumlao and Zoë Loos, recipients of the 2013 HCCNC Scholarship!

Austin Dumlao was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1995.  He graduated from James Campbell High School in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, in 2013 and come from a family of Sabers. In the Fall, he will be attending the University of San Francisco as a Freshman with hopes to study education and become a teacher to Hawaii’s future leaders, giving back to the community that raised him. He has a strong passion for teaching and servicing those around him. When he’s not in school, he loves dancing, writing, reading, hanging out with friends, and having great adventures. He hopes to become a teacher who students will remember him as one of the greatest adults who has impacted their lives, guiding them to new heights, and inspiring them to create their own legacies.

Zoë Loos was born in Albany, New York in 1995 and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii in 2002 to be closer to her maternal grandparents and family. She graduated from St. Andrew’s Priory in 2013.  Zoë has attended the Priory since 2nd grade.  Zoë is now a Freshman at St. Mary’s College of California and hopes to study Environmental Science.  She has a deep appreciation for the environment and cultures. Zoë loves photography, community service, reading, spending time with friends, and going out into nature. She hopes to have a career that allows her to work closely with nature and teach others to appreciate the importance of preserving the environment.
