Celebrating Kuleana: A Story of Family, Land, and Legacy in Old Hawai‘i

Sara Kehaulani Goo, a Native Hawaiian journalist and author, just released her debut memoir, Kuleana: A Story of Family, Land, and Legacy in Old Hawaiʻi. In the book, Sara relates a deeply personal story about her family's effort to save their ancestral lands on Maui — land that included the Piʻilanihale heiau. She writes with great care and insight about the forces that led to loss of land for so many Native Hawaiian families. And she explores the ongoing struggle Hawaiians face to retain cultural connection while living on the U.S. continent.

We’d love for you to join us in San Francisco on Wednesday, June 26 at 6pm for a special evening at Manny’s, featuring a conversation between Sara and Kumu Hula Patrick Makuakāne. The event will include a book talk, audience Q&A, book signing and performance by Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu. Tickets are available at the following link.
