Hikianalia Welcome Ceremony

Auē, ua hit ē! San Francisco is honored to welcome & receive Hikianalia, the sister canoe of world renowned Hawaiian double-hulled canoe, Hōkūleʻa. The arrival ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 12-5pm at the Aquatic Park Cove. The traditional ceremonies will be led by the Muwekma Ohlone, followed by the Hawaiian contingent and community at large. There are several dignitaries whose presence is in the process of being confirmed. Please join us for this auspicious occasion as we welcome the Hikianalia and Captain Lehua Kamalu on their maiden voyage to San Francisco.

Thompson will speak about the 40-year journey of re-discovering ancient Polynesian voyaging and navigation, and how it has ignited a community of leaders, empowered our youth, and created a worldwide movement of global sustainability to preserve our planet Earth for generations to come.

HCCNC booth at the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival

HCCNC will be hosting a food booth at the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday, April 21st (11:00-5:00), and Sunday, April 22nd (11:00-5:00). HCCNC board members and volunteers are excited to be serving up its famous Kalua Pig Sliders (made with Kings Hawaiian rolls, kalua pig, cole slaw & BBQ aioli)!  The HCCNC booth will be located in the Food Area at Webster and Post Streets in SF Japantown. Proceeds to support the HCCNC Scholarship Fund.
